Santa Comba Dão

In the heart of Portugal, the municipality of Santa Comba Dao comes to us framed in a beautiful natural space, being located in the lower deck of Beira Alta, between the Mondego and Criz rivers, pierced in the heart by the river Dão, and united the Aguieira Dam.

Having its origins in the Visigoth era, it is not known when it was founded and who was its founder. It comes from very ancient times the name of St. Columba, toponym that have continued in the Arab area and only later, with the Christianization, would move to Santa Comba.

Santa Comba Dão, today, is the image of its people: rebellious, active, loyal, determined but also sensitive and big heart!

In addition to the good rail and road access it possesses unique features for quality tourism, to all those who appreciate well-being, nature, safety and the rest are in this county all conditions to enjoy an unparalleled quality of life. The cuisine is very typicall with dishes of meat and fish washed down with good Dão wine.

The Council, with 114 square kilometers of area, has 14,000 inhabitants. It has one of the highest population density of the region Dão-Lafões.

Agrupamento Escolas Santa Comba Dão

The Group of Schools of Santa Comba Dão (AESCD) is located in the southern part of Viseu district, and results from the aggregation of schools in the municipality of Santa Comba Dao in 2008. Ranges from Preschool Education to the secondary, and consists of a High School (home school), a Primary School and three School Centers. There is also a Music Conservatory and Arts, which works closely with the AESCD.
